Engman Studio, Liberty ME 2003
All Rights Reserved Susan Guthrie
This small 24’ X 20’ domed studio was built for the sculptor, Kris Engman in 2003 in a hemlock grove on Cargill Pond in Liberty, Maine. The eight-sided ovoid plan was what the trees allowed without removing or harming any of them. The segmental, lapped board hemlock roof sits over a waterproof rubber membrane, which will not only protect the membrane from falling branches but will also considerably increase its life expectancy.
